Lloyd Crowned Twice at One Billiards TournamentBilliard player Heather Lloyd from Austin, Texas wrapped up the 2006 Hunter Classics Amateur Women’s Tour capturing 1st place at the Hunter Classics Tour season finale and also the Hunter Classics Tour Champion title. Heather explained after the tournament, “I am shocked I won because the field was so strong. I am honored to have such wonderful and talented women around me.”Jerry Williams, owner of Bogies Billiards in Houston, was an exceptional and supportive host the weekend of Oct 27-28, including adding additional money on Sunday to the second chance tournament. Bogies has 24 eight-foot tables, lots of room, and a wonderful and amazing atmosphere.

The weather was wet and wind, but Millie’s Billiards kept the 31 players nice and warm as young gun John Morra took off with the first-place prize.Coming through the winners’ bracket, Morra matched up with Jeff White in the hot seat match, where he earned his only loss for the weekend. On the one-loss side, frequent tour winner Eric Hjorliefson didn’t have much luck, going down to Mario Morra in the quarterfinal match.

Taking place at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ, a 51-player field turned out for the October 28-29 action.Sunday unfolded with the top eight fighting for the finals. On the winners’ side McCreesh bested tour promoter Mike Zuglan 9-5, while Sean Morgan did the same to Chris Lynch 9-6. The hot seat match between McCreesh and Morgan stayed close until the end, where a quick surge gave McCreesh the 9-7 win and ushered him into the finals.

Australian Company Launches World Class Online Billiards Web SitePoolComps.com (http://www.poolcomps.com/), with potential to be the world’s biggest, will begin operating global billiards tournaments Friday, October 27. The first weekly tournament carries prize-money of US$10,000 and is open to registered players who pay only US$7.50 a month. Many other services, including coaching advice, are available free of charge from PoolComps.com, which is already operational.The new site is a brainchild of the sport’s main controlling bodies, the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) and the World Confederation of Billiard Sports (WCBS). It has been four years in development and provides enthusiasts with a new level of technical excellence in online play.

With eight players from the winners’ bracket and eight from the one-loss side returning for the shortened race-to-7 televised matches in a single-elimination format, it’s anyone’s tournament at that point.
