World Champion Pagulayan in Kelowna
Alex Pagulayan, the Nine Ball World Champion in 2004, has announced his entry into the Stan James Canadian National Nine Ball Tour this weekend. He joins current Canadian National Champion (and Kelowna resident) Brady Gollan in what is being called the strongest field of players to assemble in Western Canada in many years. From Friday, February 16 through Sunday the 18th professional cueists from throughout Canada will gather and compete at Breakers Billiards and Bistro on Dilworth Drive (contact there is Russ Acton at 250-762-6033).

Going into the finals of the Texas Hold ‘Em Billiards Championship, Johnny Archer was the wild card and only held $100,000 in chips, but he didn’t let that deter him. It was just my day, Archer said philosophically afterward, clutching his $25,000 check for first place.

Dragon Promotions is presenting the Mezz World Champion Showdown at Main Billiard Club in Incheon, Korea on February 14, 2007. 2001 World 9-Ball Champion Iceman Mika Immonen will take on reigning World 14.1 Champion Thorsten Hitman Hohmann. Both players will be in Korea competing in the 2nd Annual Korea Pro Pool Tour Championships on February 10-13.

Bitter cold saw in the weekend of February 3-4, bringing 54 billiard players to Pool Paradise in Waterloo for the month’s first Canadian 30K Tour billiards stop. Given the strong field, it was no surprise that it took a former world champion, Alex Pagulayan, to win the event.

Being the only major men’s pro billiards event on the West Coast, billiard fans and players will be happy to see this events return at the Normandie Casino in Gardena, CA. The 9-Ball tournament, being held March 27- April 1,2007, will have a guaranteed $20,000 added and limited to 96 players paying $12,000 1st Place.
